Hernia
A hernia is a medicine out of an organ or part of a body outside the cavity that normally contains, by opening a natural or accidental.
Presentation
In Male, hernias are the most common hernia of the abdomen through different channels or natural weaknesses of the wall. They are in the form of swelling palpable. Their impact is the functional gene linked to their volume, or the incarceration of the organ.
The discal hernia, protrusion of intervertebral disc through the intervertebral ligament, showed signs rather related to the compression of a nerve root or spinal cord, by the volume of the hernia, in the medullary canal.
This exit is through a weakened area of the wall of the cavity containing the body or borrows a natural channel. It may be linked to a congenital malformation or be running a special effort.
For abdominal hernia, it differentiates a hernia, which develops from a natural orifice, a éventration that develops on a surgical scar and evisceration which corresponds to the exit intestines outside (wounds of war , Post-surgical early)
Contributing factors
Congenital hernias are linked to weaknesses parietal these dice birth: the type is the inguinal hernia by continuing péritonéo-vaginal canal, diaphragmatic hernia through a congenital hole in the diaphragm, etc. ...
Other hernias can be acquired and appear during life. Some factors are common to different types of hernias:
* Mainly physical exertion important and trades power, which lead to pressure on the walls of the body
* Premature wear muscles of the body.
There is often an association of hernias of the abdominal wall and slipped discs in the building trades, transport and health, where staff are required to handle heavy loads repeatedly. This leads to always look for other hernias still asymptomatic, when the patient consults.
Treatment
It is to treat the swelling palpable, reinstating the organ in its cavity and to strengthen the wall of the cavity. It also deals with the compression in the discal hernia.
Currently, most technical repair abdominal hernias in adults using a prosthetic reinforcing parietal.
History
Hernias are treated surgically for a very long time. It was one of three authorized operations in the Middle Ages by the Church to the barbers surgeons.
In the sixteenth century, the surgeon Ambroise Paré had invented an instrument made of a razor blade in a rolling pin elder to "remove hernias" (named hargnes at the time, because of the etymology of the word).
Other senses
By extension, is meant by the term hernia a defect in the carcass of a tire (because of a shock for example) resulting in swelling more or less important caused by the pressure of the inner tube.
The hernia can be dangerous because they undermine the tire and can lead to a breakup of the latter.
